Nobody Puts Roller Derby in a Corner

Where have you been all summer Ithaca? If you’ve missed our games, here’s your last chance! 2010 League standings put the SufferJets at (3-4) and the BlueStockings at (5-1). Our league also took 3rd place in the first ever New York State Roller Derby tournament! Yes, we’ve been busy!

Join us for our season finale as we battle our sisters in shove, Assault City Roller Derby from Syracuse, to add one final win to our season standings.

Saturday, October 9th – at Cass Park Rink
Doors at 5pm, first whistle at 5:30

ADMISSION AT THE DOOR – SUGGESTED DONATION $5 KIDS | $10 ADULTS

Junior Roller Derby Gains Traction

ON A RECENT TUESDAY EVENING in September, a group of young women circled around the rink at Cass Park for a roller derby practice. Given the burgeoning popularity of the sport in Ithaca, this was no surprise, but upon closer examination, it became apparent that the twenty or so skaters whizzing by were neither The SufferJets nor The Bluestockings. Instead the event was a scrimmage between The Heartless and the Bad Blueberries, temporary team names for the practicing Ithaca League of Junior Rollers. Read the rest….

An open skate for all ages to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ithaca – come skate with the Ithaca Bluestockings and Big Brothers Big Sisters

6 PM doors, bout at 6:30 PM
Roller Derby Bout
The Ithaca Sufferjets vs. The Upstate Cupskates
(Members of the Utica Roller Girls and Roc City Roller Derby team up
in a bout versus the SufferJets.)

7:00 PM (during the halftime of the SufferJets’ bout)
Junior Derby Debut!
The debut exposition of the Ithaca League of JUNIOR Rollers

Admission at the door:
Roll for kids sake
$5 – includes skate rental

Roller derby bout
$10 adults, $5 kids suggested donation.
A portion of proceeds goes to BBBS of the Ithaca Youth Bureau
