2013 Season Opener

The Ithaca SufferJets will take on their neighbors to the north, Rochester’s Roc City Roller Derby all-star team, the Roc Stars, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Cass Park Rink. Doors at 6:30 PM and the action begins at 7:00 PM.

The last time these two teams met at the Empire Skate Showdown in 2012, the Roc Stars were able to take the SufferJets by a narrow two point victory. Earlier in 2012, on March 24th, the SufferJets played the Roc Stars and had the lead at the half, and while it was a close game until the last 15 minutes it ended in a win for the Roc Stars: final score 125-93. Since 2009 when the SufferJets first met the Roc Stars and enjoyed a 94-81 win, they haven’t won since. What will happen on May 11, 2013 at the first home bout of season 6 of the SufferJets? And will you be there?

Your hometown team is always rolling for a good cause and this time we put the spotlight on the Advocacy Center of Ithaca. Ten percent of our bout proceeds will be donated to the Advocacy Center.

From the Advocacy Center: It can be hard to know what to do if you or someone in your family has experienced domestic violence or child sexual abuse. The Advocacy Center has Counselor/Advocates available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All services are free.
