After their last matchup in May of 2014, the Ithaca League of Women Rollers’ BlueStockings are ready to meet the CT Roller Girls’ Yankee Brutals back on the track. Mark your calendars for August 8th when these Yankees come a-riding into town because this bout is gonna be a dandy!

And for the first time ILWR will have a mother-daughter duo playing together on the same team. Veteran skater and Blues co-captain, Fanny Farmer welcomes her daughter Rose Hips as she graduates from the Ithaca League of Junior Rollers where she started in 2010. Rose Hips, formerly Zebra Muscle, says of her mom,

“She has been my coach in the juniors for the past three  years, so I look forward to using the skills I learned from her when I play with her” but  “if I shout ‘mom!’ when I’m skating, she might correct me by saying “Ahem, that’s Captain Fanny to you!”

Fanny Farmer and Rose Hips on the track together!

A portion of bout proceeds will go to support Suicide Prevention and Crisis Service. The SPCS promotes constructive responses to crisis and trauma, and prevents violence to self and others through direct support and community education. They provide free and confidential help at 800-273-TALK and online at IthacaCrisis.org.
