With a heavy heart the ILWR family has lost a very dear friend on February 13, 2014. Coach/Captain Quirk came to our league in 2009 and delightedly served as a coach, while quickly becoming a serious fan of the sport and supporter extraordinaire along with his wonderful wife Cindy “CinderBlockerella”. Blues musician, boat builder, captain, roller derby coach…a man of so many talents with connections far and wide. We are all so grateful to have had Dennis in our lives.

I was fortunate to have counted Dennis as my friend and brother for nearly 30 years. One of his greatest gifts to me was the many, many wonderful people he introduced to me. Now I am fortunate to consider many of them as my friends. I am so glad to some of my newest friends are among the SufferJets, ILWR and derby fans. I look forward to this season’s bouts, will be my first derby, to cheer for Victory and the Memory of Captain Q!
