More about Junior Derby!
The members of ILJR are strong and motivated young women who train hard, respect their teammates, and love the sport of roller derby. Junior skaters, ages 8-12 and 13-17, learn powerful skating skills, build fitness, and enjoy a fun, confidence-building team experience in a supervised, competitive league structure.
Junior derby leagues are springing up across the country. Junior roller derby is a contact sport, based on Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) rules. All players are required to wear protective gear: a mouth guard, elbow and knee pads, wrist guards, and a helmet. Dues are charged to defray costs. ILWR conducts fundraising to ensure that all interested junior skaters, regardless of their financial resources or athletic experience, can roll with ILJR.
