Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend with ILWR’s Mother of a Bout!
The Ithaca League of Women Rollers (ILWR) continues to be Ithaca’s one and only women’s flat track roller derby league, and is ready to kick off their sixth season with an evening of MOM-umental action and fun at Cass Park rink on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Don’t miss out on your exciting hometown sport – great crowds, half-time shows & roller derby.
Come support your local roller derby league and celebrate our 2013 Season Opener and Mother’s Day weekend as your Ithaca SufferJets take on our neighbors to the North, Rochester’s All-Star team, the Roc Stars. Last fall when these two teams met at the Empire Skate Showdown, the Roc Stars were able to take the SufferJets by a narrow two point victory. You can bet the SufferJets are looking for a win!
Doors open at 6:30 pm and first whistle is at 7:00 pm. The night will roll right into a MUM-azing Hula Hoop half-time show with the Daughters of Manipura that will rock your socks off! DJ Becca will be in the house, spinning the best music around!
This bout’s spotlight organization is The Advocacy Center and ILWR will be giving 10% of the evening’s proceeds to support their work towards ending domestic and sexual violence.
