The Ithaca League of Women Rollers (ILWR)—Ithaca’s first and only women’s roller derby league—is joining the Cancer Resource Center’s walk-a-thon/5K run, now celebrating their 17th year.

The Cancer Resource Center’s fund raising event will take place on Saturday October 23rd at Cass Park in Ithaca. The Ithaca League of Women Rollers swap their skates for running shoes as they join this community-wide fundraiser that raises awareness and addresses the needs of local people with cancer.

“Nearly everyone knows someone whose life has been changed by cancer. The Cancer Resource Center is there to ease the shock and anxiety for so many people and families in this community facing cancer. We want to help with that,” said a spokesperson for the ILWR team.

The Ithaca League of Women Rollers’ team “Rolling Over Cancer” is ready to run on the 23rd and looks forward to running with and for the Ithaca community that offers them so much support during their roller derby season.
