Ithaca Junior Rollers Host First International Derby Games 5/3

In their debut as a member of the Junior Roller Derby Association (JRDA), the Ithaca League of Junior Rollers (ILJR), ages 8-17, are hosting their very own double-header on Saturday, May 3rd. Both junior teams, the Seneca Dolls and the Title IXs, will be taking to the track for two full-length games in a thrilling match up against Canada’s Toronto Junior Rollers.

This historic debut of our junior rollers in their own event will be held at Cass Park Rink, located at 701 Taughannock Blvd., with doors opening at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 3rd. Game one starts at 4:00 pm and features Ithaca’s Seneca Dolls versus Toronto’s Whipper Snappers. Game two begins at 6:00 pm and features Ithaca’s Title IXs versus Toronto’s Torontosaurus Wrex.

“These bouts are going to be full of action-packed entertainment and family fun. Our juniors have been training hard, and are looking forward to these two exciting matchups!” said Coach Contagious.

Free admission! Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door. All proceeds will go towards ILJR and their uniform costs and travel costs. This event is made possible through the generous support of the City Federation of Women’s Organizations from the Women Building Community Grant.

The athletes of ILJR are strong and motivated young women who train hard, respect their teammates, and love the sport of roller derby. Junior skaters, ages 8-17, learn powerful skating skills, build fitness, and enjoy a fun, confidence-building team experience in a supervised, competitive league structure.
